These instructions are to update with data migration on the MAC platform. If you do not have data to migrate, select the NEW installation instructions instead.

  • To update to build 171215 you must be on build 4138, 171102 or 171107 or later to migrate data running on the FileMaker 16 platform
  • MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR FILES BEFORE PERFORMING ANY UPDATE

    • Peer-to-Peer and Stand-Alone: With Crate Pro closed, copy your three Crate Pro files and save on a USB drive or other computer in a folder that's clearly marked as Backup.

    • Client-Server: Using you FileMaker Admin Console,  Use the Schedules pane. Select one of your Crate Pro backups. Click Schedule menu in Admin Console, then choose Run a Schedule Now.

  • You will need your Activation Key File. Your Crate Pro activation file to migrate to 171215 will contain '181201', '171215'or '171102' in the file name depending on your renewal date.

After updating:

Some style templates were found to be duplicated. The styles were consolidated in the November update but for 8 of the styles, the old style number did not automatically convert to the new number.  If any of your designs had the deleted style number, when you update to the December build, the style number will appear as a yellow box. Click in the box and select the old style number which will then be converted for you.

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

OLD NUMBER "LPO-319" ;   "LPO-329" ;  "LPO-384" ;  "LLO-162" ;  "LLO-492" ;  "LLM-342" ;  "LLO-102" ;  "LLO-104"

NEW NUMBER "LPO-119" ;  "LPO-189" ;  "LPO-189" ;  "LLO-562" ;  "LLO-392" ;  "LLO-382" ;  "LLO-112" ;   "LLO-102"

PEER-TO-PEER AND STAND-ALONE UPDATE

  • Download the ZIP file to your Host computer. Extract the two files into your current Crate Pro database folder
  • Accept to replace the Resources file
  • Start FileMaker Pro 16
    • Clear the old shortcuts by clicking on File > Open Recent > Clear Recent files
    • From the 'My Solutions' tab, click on Browse located in the bottom left corner,  browse to the location of your Crate Pro database folder if not already shown and click on the new file Crate Pro 171215
    • Say OK if you see "FileMaker cannot share a file because...." We'll set this after migrating.
  • Accept the EULA, click Continue. Paste the entire block of text in your Crate Pro Activation File. Click Continue.

  • Select to 'Update From Previous Version'

  • In the window click on Desktop in the "Locate Your Previous File'

  • Select your old Crate Pro file that should be in the same folder as the new file (Do Not select the Resources or Data Shared files)

  • Once your old file is indentified select to migrate the data.

  • For Peer-to-peer installations: On the Host computer, in FileMaker Pro open click on File > Sharing > Share with FileMaker Clients and select ON. This allows your additional CAL computers to connect to the Host.

Additional Clean-Up Recommendations:

  • On the other client computers - Clear the old file shortcuts by clicking on File > Open Recent > Clear Recent Files in the FileMaker Pro menu. When a user connects to the new file, from the Hosts tab,  a new shortcut will be placed in the Launch Center
  • Remove or delete the old Crate Pro file so you don't accidentally work in it (you should have a backup saved).  The Crate Pro 171215, Resources, Data Shared and your Crate Pro Activation file should be the only files in your working Crate Pro folder. Older files should be removed to ensure there is not confusion as to what files are current. All older files and backups should be in a clearly marked BACKUP folder.
  • Old activation files should be deleted. (Using an old activation file will stop some features from functioning)
