Its common to want to remove a single END or SIDE panel and replace it with a door, ramp, screen, etc. The 'Compensate' value allows you to calculate different results quickly.
In the END panel and SIDE panel tabs you will see a PANELS value that indicates the total number of panels being calculated for the cut lists. You can change the quantity of either the END or SIDE panels to one and the COMPENSATE field shows you the thickness of the panel being removed. Crate Pro can do several things depending on what your goal is:
- If you want to leave the space value left as is by removing that panel, such as for the insertion of a 'door', leave the existing 'Compensate' value as it is and add the new materials into Packing > Other that will take the place of the removed panel
- If you want to increase the spacing to add a thicker material as you might see in a ramp, increase the 'Compensate' value to account for the thickness of the materials that will replace the removed panel. Run the RULES from the Rules tab. Add the new materials in Packing > Other that will take the place of the removed panel
- If you want to change the dimensions of the panels affected by the removed panel, such as you are using a Base-In style (which shortens the length/width of the deck so it sits inside the Sides/Ends and you want to extend the deck (and possibly other panels) so you can add a new component that sits ON the deck) change the 'Compensate' value to 0 (zero) and run the RULES from the Rules tab. Add the extra material that will take the place of the removed panel in Packing > Other.
