Transferring a client license is simple in Crate Pro 6. These instructions are only to transfer your client license to a new client computers. If you are transferring Crate Pro from one host computer to a new host computer CLICK HERE
You will need:
FileMaker Pro installation file (.exe for Windows, .dmg for Mac)
FileMaker Pro certificate file (or license key for older versions)
Crate Pro 6 Activation text file
To determine which option to use, check the quantity status of purchased computer licenses against the number that have already been registered in Crate Pro 6 before you start. Here's how:
- Preferences > Licensing > Overview and check the total number of Client Access Licenses (CAL) purchased. If you have the same number of CAL and DAL (concurrent connections), you'll see one license value shown
- Go to Preferences > Licensing > Devices: How many licenses are registered?
Option 1: Use this if you have additional computer licenses available than registered:
- Install FileMaker Pro on the new computer
- Open FileMaker Pro > Favorites > Add App > From Hosts
- The Host computer with the Crate Pro files should appear and the main file can be selected to create a shortcut (NOT Data Shared or the Resources file
- Double click on the shortcut and login in normally - (your first connection may require that you enter the full block of text in your CP6 Activation file)
If your Host is not on your local network, you will need to enter the external IP of the host, or VPN information.
Option 2: Your Device tab shows the you have registered all available computer licenses: One computer will need to be removed to make its license available for the new computer (Optionally You can purchase additional CAL for the new computer. This does not increase your concurrent connections DAL)
- Open Crate Pro from a licensed computer, or the host computer which is not the computer license being transferred
- Go to Preferences > Licensing > Devices select to delete the old computer by clicking on the red X at the end of the line item for the computer being removed. (!!! In peer-to-peer the computer without the red X is the Host computer and can not be deleted. It manages your database files)
- Install FileMaker Pro on the new computer select Favorites > Add App > From Hosts:
- The Host computer with the Crate Pro files should appear and the main file can be selected to create a shortcut (NOT Data Shared or the Resources file
- Double click on the shortcut and login in normally -( your first connection may require that you enter the full block of text in your CP6 Activation file)
Delete FileMaker Pro from the old computer to avoid a license conflicts and remain within terms of EULA
