Q: How do I know how many fasteners to use per board junction?

Crate Pro has an internal calculation for the number of fasteners used in a junction based on the width of the 2 boards being connected. The thickness is based on whether the board is flat or on edge. In Crate Pro 5 you're unable to specify the orientation of lumber boards for any cap cleats (Top, Ends & Side panels) which does affect the thickness of the boards at the junction. You can change the base and lower assembly lumber orientation. The thickness is based on whether the board is flat or on edge.

In Crate Pro 6 you can change the orientation for any material as desired.

Fastener Junction

Crate Pro 5: You can adjust the fastener counts in the Design -> Fastener tab. If you want to make sure your staff uses a specific count on the joints you can click on the blue circle to the right of any component and add a note which will appear on the cut sheets.

Crate Pro 6: You can adjust the fastener counts in the Design -> Container -> Fastener tab. If you want to make sure your staff uses a specific count on the joints you can add Sawyer notes for that design in the Container -> Overview tab. Notes for Sawyers and Assemblers will appear on the cut sheets at the bottom.
